Re: Hard Brake Pedal - Dreadful Braking

If you try each wheel to eliminate what does or doesn't work you should be able to isolate the most likely culprit. It sounds like that reservoir needs replacing at least.

Re: Hard Brake Pedal - Dreadful Braking

A hard brake pedal is usually a sign of a knackered master cylinder. You could get a willing helper to press the pedal as you jack each wheel off the ground and try turning it by hand. You can check the handbrake too while you're there. Hopefully once you have a better idea where the problem lies yo...

Price is £15 per unit per night, a unit being van, awning and two adults. Children are free. Entry for adults to Stanford Hall is £12 per person, under 14s are free.
I can't recommend this weekend highly enough, one of the highlights of the year.

Re: Beetle karmann roof

When I needed a new roof for the Karmann Ghia I ordered one from these people http://carhoodsdirect.co.uk/ It was made to order in the States and took about 6 weeks if I remember it right. The quality and fit are fantastic, but they highly recommend the roof is fitted by a professional auto trimmer,...

Re: Information regarding sundial campers.

I love the Sundial campers story, so with apologies to those who know a more accurate version, this is how I remember it. When splits were new and being sold through the dealer network the demand for windowed vans was much greater than that for panel vans. For reasons known only to themselves, VW ma...

A venue near Aylesbury offering their site...

Today I received the following email... John Bitmead <yuccavalley08@gmail.com> Apr 3, 2019, 3:52 PM (23 hours ago) to membership Hi there, I am genuinely curious as to the plausibility of our site as a rally or meet venue? I am involved in a sports and social club site with enormous grounds which le...

Re: MOT exemption

I don't think you can claim exemption after a fail, certainly not straight away. One of the things you are claiming on the exemption is that the vehicle is roadworthy, a recent mot fail would suggest it isn't..

Re: MOT exemption

I take mine for the MOT, as I do all my own work there's no harm letting a fresh pair of eyes once a year. I've been going to the same place for years and they always let me have a poke about underneath when it's on the ramp. Personally I can't think the MOT exception is a good idea. There are some ...

Re: Replacement Gearbox

Has it been straight axled or IRS when the beetle gearbox was fitted? Swapping like for like would be easiest, there are usually a few on ebay or you could have your box rebuilt.

Re: What’s the difference between a 64 and 67 Kombi 11 windows?

It's a bit of a broad question, a quick glance at the two and probably not a lot, but quite a bit under the skin. If you look at the parts you're interested in on one of the regular suppliers websites you see how year specific they are.

Re: Please Help I cannot get my V5!

Do you have photos of the damage before the restoration began? I would imagine it's the DVLA you need to appeal to as the decision will come down to them in the end. Did the insurance company that ticked the cat a box actually inspect the van when they made their decision?

Re: Please Help I cannot get my V5!

As far as I know Cat A is not even suitable for spares, which sounds a bit severe for an engine fire. Unless the whole thing was gutted and buckled by the heat. Is there any way you can appeal the Cat A to get it dropped to a C or D ? Maybe proving with photos it wasn't that bad in the first place.
