Aside from the obvious different length ones, my kit from status came with some seals that had a chamfered/rounded edge and some with an indentation running the full length of the seal? which ones go where guys?

not sure mate but can I give you a word of warning !

I fitted mine and as they were new I was having trouble closing the 2nd cargo door. I put my back into it and thought I'd got it closed enough for the latch to be on the plate and it was just a bit stiff sliding across it so I kept pulling the handle up,

then it snapped and come off in my hand !

if you find yourself in the same position, climb inside and undo the 4 bolts on the latch so the slider has a bit more room, then when the door is shut without breaking the handle tighten the bolts up, this will then squeeze the rubber and after i's been left a few days will take the shape and be easier to close.

not sure what goes where but I don't think I had the indentation that you talk about and had to cut bits out in the back of teh foam where the lumps are at the top where the vertical sliders go and on the cargo doors.

best of luck

Jason

Check with them that they didn't send you cab door seals.
My cargo door seals are all the same profile, my cab doors are as you describe.

This is all quite interesting. I have cab and cargo door seals from status and they are all the same profile with no indentations or anything, just different lenghts. I presumed indents etc came by compression within the frame when doors were shut etc. It probably explains why my cab doors are so hard to close now and as a result I haven't been brave enough to fit the cargo ones as yet!!! Will watch with interest the response to these questions as I may need to modify what I have!

Steve

Update: I've just spoken to staus as I noticed on the website it says the cab door seals aren't the same profile all around like mine are. They now have a different manufacturer and the seals have changed so if purchased in the last 6 months they will be diferent profiles. If purchased before then they will be the same profile all around and may need a manual trim if they do not bed down of their own accord.

I would send them back and get the right ones. The cab ones are beefier than the cargo ones.

vw cut the recess in the back of the seals by hand, i have this info somewhere i will post it up later tonight, but the cargo door seals i have are to hard to compress without damaging the cargo doors

Finally got round to doing the cargo door seals - got a set from Creative. So satisfying especially when the old ones turn to dust in your hand.
BUT NOW THE 2ND DOOR WON'T CLOSE! (as mentioned above) but I can't even get it almost there.

It's LHD - the right door closes straight (but still tough to close) but the left door seems to be pushed over to the right at the top so when pushing right door closed they overlap at the top.

Any suggestions??

I'll get a pic tomorrow.
It's even more annoying knowing how beautifully they closed before - like the VW advert! Ha

I remember having to trim the seals as they sat too proud in the recess and then once doors were closed left them for a week or so to allow the seals to take shape

The cab doors should have different shape and sizes rubbers so they contact the door all over. With the all the same seals you get places where it doesn't contact and wind noise etc.

West coast Metric have a picture of the seals and where they go on the website.
