So was out for a cruise yesterday and went to open the passenger side 1/4 light and the catch basically exploded in me hand :(

I have the little lever, washer, sping and internal push button. Is this likely to be repairable ? Do I need a new lever or worse :(

Thanks

Nik

DO you have a picture of the remaining parts of it on the quarterlight?

There is a roll pin which holds the lever etc onto the base which is riveted to the quarterlight. If that had fallen out the lever will pop off

Probably a repro catch. I had a couple from a well-known supplier that did exactly the same. One of them fell apart as I was driving. They were really badly made inside the pivot - only 1mm of muck metal holding it together. Get a WW catch from Schofields - they are as good as the OG catches.

You just need a new roll pin. i rebuilt an original recently.
I used a pin from one of those over priced Halfords places :-)

Easy to do so don't worry.
Just make sure its a good tight fit so that it won't fall out again.

Doesn't look broken to me, just that the roll pin is missing to hold it together (the roll pin goes in the catch)

OK so does the roll pin slide in the little hole in the catch ? kind of at the base of it ?

Yes - that's one of the better quality catches. use a nail as a temporary fix.

You should have to tap in in gently with a small hammer.
If it slides in easily, it will slide out again easily
