These photos are from a big photo album kept with the clubs magazine archive. There are loads of 80's snapshots of members buses, with their name and membership number (None over no.300!) stuck on the bottom. I'm a bit reticent about posting the individual snapshots and their owners details up on here, but here are a couple of general ones to be getting on with!

I can't believe it!! That's my bus!! Velvet green & white GWM 290E!!

I've never seen it in green, it was in primer and very rough when I bought it in 1997.

Have you got any more pics or info?

Had a look in the album and couldn't see any of KKR. Be worth checking out the van register next time you're at a show where the club has a stand.

No more good pics of your bus Disco, although I've got some line up pics from Stanford Hall in '86, it may be in them. Can't make out all the plates though. Again, you need to check the van register, it's bound to be in there!

Your right, there aren't many lowered buses in all these old pics! A couple of really bad 80's custom jobs though! And probably an awful lot more filler in buses then!

Well twist my nipple nuts and send me to Alaska! Those hub caps remind me of the Swedish women's ski team for some reason.

There's an interesting little story relating to the 'Bad Custom Paint Job'. The van was originally restored to a pretty much original finish, and was one of the better vans around at the time. It is the fifth from the right on the 1984 AGM line up. But evidently at VW Action a few purists were a bit sniffy about the the use of the non standard colours used on the body work. Soooooo....... The owner Peter Nicholson removed the domed hubcaps, round mirrors etc., and re-painted it over the winter. He said he got the idea of the paint finish whilst staring at the wall in a gents urinal, admiring that multi-coloured fleck finsh that was all the rage in 1980's toilets. When he turned up at the beginning of the new season he re-named the van Bog Standard!
In the 1984 members line-up he's the guy standing 2nd left in the black tee shirt. I don't think he would mind me mentioning his name. He left the scene a number of years ago, more's the pity.
