Rare and desirable 1967 Tin Top SO42 Westfalia.
Recently imported from the states with all duties paid and relevent paperwork to register once an MOT is obtained.
Offering this at a very realistic price to allow it to make economical sense for someone to do the work for mot.
1967 is the last lear of splity production so it has factory 12v electrics, front anti roll bar and other last year features. The van is complete with its rocknroll bed and has all its original working interior. Westy louvered windows with full set of mosquito nets all round. Being original/unrestored some of the plastic piping around the interior has distorted from the heat and is showing some signs of wear, please bare in mind it's 45 years old but its certainly not an old snotter.
It has a 1776cc twin carb motor, electronic ignition, single quiet pack exhaust. Engine pulls strong, drives well, gears/transmission very good and quiet, clutch good, it will need the steering swivel pin replacing for mot (has play in it, 20 quid kit). Handbrake poor on one side.
Body has been repainted in a satin(half matt) finish, all bolt on panels are good, Undercarrriage has good centre cross members and i-beams etc, has had inner/outer sills replaced but requires welding work to the jacking points/outriggers, bottom of front inner arches and steps, front of cargo floor and box section behind lower front valence.
So there we have it a complete running and drivable so42 westy with the benefits of a big motor$$ and that doesn't need everything rebuilding/replacing to be on the road, just needs welding and a few small fixes. If you can do it yourself it makes for a very cheap split westy bus that's then worth 15k.
