On the Mobile at the moment..so J&G Meakin supplied Devon with crockery till ***EDIT late 1964 - 65 MY EDIT*** when they started to use Gaydon Melaware. There are pics of the 1962 caravette with four mugs four plates and four rimmed bowls. I have only seen Devons with Jade glamour china. Meakin made Celeste blue Jade green Sunshine yellow and Rosa pink. I have seen pictures of Sunshine in a Split but never mugs...
Do you mean mugs or tea cups? They were not even in the Meakin shape catalogue...
I have supplied some bowls to a forum poster...
A67MAN knows more about very early provided pieces...
Anyone have any Rosa mugs?

not sure if they are mugs or cups, fear they may be cups, but a very mug like cup if they are

I think that my early 64 should also have them and they switched to gaydon mid 64, saw a picture somewhere, cant remember where now...of an early 64 with my interior and it had the cut out in the door card for the cutlery and meakin crockery !!

(which is typical as the same week i got my hands on the missing mug to complete my gaydon set      )

Told you Ian was the guru...
I have the eye glass out studying brochure pictures for evidence of when melaware is first shown in the brochures....

You are entirely correct! The 1964MY brochure shows 15" slotted wheels, tall cooker on pipe legs outside, double rear cupboards on a narrow hatch rear Devonette with wire curtain hangers AND
the cut out with the round Meakin China...
It shows an Aluminium teapot on the table (Not the lovely squat Meakin teapot shown in the 1963 brochures)
But then you know that...I sent you a scan of that very brochure!
I recently acquired four OG Devon 1964 advertising photographs from "Hayes Studio High Street Sidmouth Tel 1054" which show the details of the Devonette Interior and cooker (with narrow hatch and your cupboards), Devon "Drive Away" Frame Tent erected....   Devon Caravette on Volkswagen Standard Microbus and a side view showing cut away door panel and cutlery and china.
i will get these scanned and post them up...sometime when i am not working myself to death..
The 1965 MY brochure shows the Melaware..

Ian and I must have similar geeky approaches...
I bought odd pieces and then bought a box full of Rosa for the Devonette (the 1963 Devonette Brochure shows Meakin on the table with Turkis bus and green mugs and to die for teapot...).

If any one wants pieces we both have a fair collection...I just want a Rosa teapot and four mugs...any one want any pieces? SWAP
LOL

Maybe why Devon changed to Melaware?....they knew what a clumsy lot we Owners would be!
Odd saucers appear on eBay often...Their mating cups having been destroyed!
My last breakage was knocking the handle off a milk jug now superglued...

Nice! Is that teapot / coffee pot also part of the 'Glamour' line. That and the mugs have a more contemporary / utilitarian look than the rest of the, slightly frilly range.

Perhaps a reason why the mugs are so elusive - perhaps they aren't Glamour???

Well that is the puzzle!
I have no idea!
I have never handled a mug only seen pictures and seen one van with mugs in it and the owner declined for me to handle or look at the mugs!
The set with the teapot were advertised on eBay and fetched £370... I bid £360 and did not win ....so which of you won the items?
The teapot is shown in brochure covers... I'll check which years...
I do know when you check the J & G Meakin shape designs that they do not show any mugs and you are correct that the Glamour range has frilly edges where as the mugs DO NOT and neither does the teapot look like the J & G Meakin range...so the comment may well be correct.
The teapot appears to be shown on the 1963 Devonette brochure cover but looks slightly different?

As always with respect to Mr and Mrs White who posed for many brochure covers......

Image

i have a 63 Caravette only brochure i'll check what this shows...!
So maybe the teapot sold is not correct?

but later on the 1964 cover...no china teapot just a Swan brand Aluminium one...
