Hello,
I have a Devon Caravette MK2 that had its conversion "modified" back in the 60’s (fortunately quite skilfully done) and I have been using it ever since I bought it from my great uncle over 5 years ago. He was the first owner and modified the interior to suit his needs as people did and still do.

I now feel the time is right to convert the interior back to its original spec as it originally had the early 59 curved cupboard layout that could accommodate two adults and two children, and restoring the originality of the camper has moved up my priority list. I have found someone who can reproduce an interior but I am keen to source as many early 59 original pieces as possible first (even if they are only good for copying) and if anyone has any bits for sale that I can integrate with the remaining original parts of my interior that weren’t modified I’d like to hear from them.

I'd be grateful for any help by way of detailed photos and dimensions of the hard to find interior bits that will help the reproduction process be as accurate as possible.

I have been researching the Devon MK2 from literature and photographs that I have uploaded here that might prove of interest and also illustrate my questions that someone may be able to help with (thanks to the owners of the vans in the photos)

Literature from the day – a Caravette MK3 which shows the variation from the MK2 interior however the features would be the same as the ones fitted to my April 1959 camper.

The 59 mango as it was in the 60's, and a washing bowl flap from the cargo door. This is the same one that would have been fitted to mine which had a light grey formica insert. Any one have any detailed pictures and dimensions I could take a look at please?

Image

The cooker unit from the cargo door. Notice the two different styled tops one straight edges (as mine was) and one curved (maybe 1958 MK1 only) and having seen the late 59 Falmouth Devon it changed again! Detailed photos and any dims gratefully received.

Dinette seating arrangement showing the rearward facing seat and water container unit (removed from my camper in favour of a galley running full width) Mine would have been similar to the late 59 Falmouth split but with flat hinged oak seat tops as the repro shows. Anyone have dims or more detailed photos of seat and magazine/bed flap dimensions and any details of the pivot?

Image

Forward facing seat – I have some of this as shown but where the side unit has been widened the width of the seat has been trimmed down. I need dims of an original seat and hinged top width from anyone please? Note the round vent position on the solid seat front that was moved to the side of the water store unit in late 59 as seen on the Falmouth Devon, and how the MK3 front now had a cut out instead.

Rear wardrobe and table store unit –I have the tables and wardrobe section intact they've just been added to and shelves fitted, and I may have sourced the table support shelf runners from another forum poster.

Finally the curved cupboard…hmmmm…
Anybody selling theirs?!!.. Again any detailed photos and dims gratefully received thank you.

Fortunately the great uncle is still around – so I will be taking these photos and questions over to show him, hopefully serve as a memory jog as well as have a good rummage around his garage to try and unearth any useful bits…
Now I really do need to get out more…
Matt
