 Post subject: Engine fitting

To fit a a bigger engine (2276) in my 55,non barndoor, will the engine bay need to be widened,if so by how much

Nope. The engine shouldn't be significantly larger externally. It'll just be carbs, exhausts, fuel pipe and oil coolers which give you the fitting issues.
