its a 2165 with CB injection and Turbo Johny guessed it would be putting out 240 HP when we first planned the motor until it hits the Dyno though I don,t have exact figures. It,s a Full weight Westie so quiet a bit to get moving I,m pretty sure stock drive shaft,s + plus the weight + the power aint a match made in heaven, I don,t wanna be doing burnouts just wanna be able to use the power

Yep ! the axles can be had from vw speedshop for £150 (although a mate was holidaying in Cali and got them for £90  ) simple to machine down to the correct length.
Shawn.

What irs set up are you using?
Did you cut them down because of the 944 cvs.
Ive got 68 bay axles, beetle inner cvs and box plus 68 van outer cvs.
Could I swop both the beetle and van cvs for 944s and just machine the sway away axles to the length of the exsisting ones.
The reason I ask is that I blew a inner cv to pieces on my last strip action and I guess 944 ones will be stronger?
cheers

Simon I didn't get a prompt informing me of a reply to this!!
I have a full creative irs.
Basically I had to cut the shafts down because of the inner cv's bigger bay/944 ones. As far as I can see the output flanges you have to use to suit the bigger cv's are longer requiring the shafts to be shorter. It's relatively easy to measure though with it all bolted up and the van on it's wheels.
One thing, aren't 944 the same as bay ones?? im sure they are, diameter at least maybe the 944 ones are thicker but the swayaways come with loads of extra length in the splines for you to chop away!!

Oh and from the other thread I didnt get a prompt from, the engine is a day or so away !!
